the ambiguous holiday

so, i havent posted in a while. i know its cuz i'm slightly ashamed of my blogger abilities. anyone want to re-vamp my site for me?

the holidays are upon us. i read a great
column
today about not forcing that holiday feeling upon yourself. Yes, he rambles on about cute kids, but i think he's got a point. why push the holiday spirit? you always end up disapointed in something if you're expecting everything. But, i guess, one might argue that there is the need to be pro-active. i'll go for that one.

Tip o' the hat to the Ranchers for an amazing 4th annual Potluck, complete with CD of Rancheroo carols!

Well, I can't get the link to work, but here's what I always expect out of Christmas: Nothing. And then I am always pleasantly surprised because at least one good thing usually happens. Plus, we have this great tradition where on Christmas Eve we have candlelight dinner as a family. My best friend from high school also comes over. And every year we do exactly the same thing on Christmas Eve. There's a series of pictures of all the ladies, my Dad whines about the candlelight every year, and it's just really wonderful. We read the Bible Christmas story. Nothing overly special. So, I say expect nothing, and you'll always be happy when it turns out better than that.

Well, the link works for me. maybe your stupid PC cant handle the christmas cheer! hahahahahahah! evil evil Microsoft!!

anyways.... that's a cool tradition. i have 2 familes now to see for the holidays. its hard on me, cuz the ladies in my mom's family are so tight, and we have so much fun together. but the boys just sit and stare at football most of the night... and then at H's place, we all see each other so much that the night doesnt last that long, but, it is a ton of fun. i guess this year we roll with it and see what happens. its worked thus far!
